Job Description

Team Leader - Information Management 

The Opportunity

This isn't just a job; it's a significant opportunity to lead the strategic development, implementation, and ongoing maturation of the Council's information management practices. You will ensure robust systems and services that meet organisational needs and foster a culture of effective information governance and privacy across both physical and digital formats. As our Information Management Team Leader, you'll be at the forefront of our digital transformation, leading a dedicated team and championing best practices across the Council.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Guiding the Information Management Team, setting clear outcomes, and making impactful decisions.
  • Driving Innovation: Spearheading continuous improvement in our information management practices, including the Property File Digitisation project, and enhancing our use of MAGIQ Documents.
  • Modernising Our Stack: Exploring and developing the potential of Microsoft 365 SharePoint, Purview, and other Apps to revolutionise our information and document management tools.
  • AI Integration: Playing a key role in integrating AI/Machine Learning capabilities within our information management tools.
  • Collaboration & Support: Providing proactive support, advice, and training to our stakeholders while collaborating with the Data Engineer, GIS Lead, and Business Improvement Specialists on data governance.
  • Privacy & Compliance: Ensuring information and system protection aligns with legislation (Privacy Act 2020, Public Records Act 2005) and Council policies, and managing LGOIMA requests.
  • People Development: Fostering an environment of open communication, tracking performance, and supporting the learning and development of your team.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual with a passion for continuous improvement and a good sense of humour!

Desired Skills and Experience

Your Expertise:

  • Strong overarching experience and current knowledge of ICT or IM with demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound working knowledge of information management standards, Public Records Act 2005, Privacy Act 2020, and LGOIMA 1987.
  • Extensive experience with EDRMS/ECM, ideally MAGIQ Documents.
  • Deep knowledge and extensive experience with modern information management tools and practices, including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Purview, and other Apps) for effective implementation and support of data and content management solutions integrating AI/ML models
  • A valid New Zealand Driver's Licence.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Proactive organisational planning and project management skills
