Central Otago District Libraries is looking for a Library Learning Coordinator to lead the design and delivery of programmes and activities for all ages, from babies to seniors.

This is a role for someone who loves people, loves libraries, and wants to make a real difference in our community.

Key Responsibilities: 

Library Learning Co-ordinator job description

As our Library Learning Coordinator, you will:

  • Create, plan, and deliver engaging library programmes for children, youth, adults, newcomers, and seniors.
  • Support our smaller libraries with programme planning and ideas.
  • Assess current programmes to ensure they meet the needs of our community.
  • Apply for grants to support events and programming.
  • Carry out frontline library duties as part of the Alexandra team.
  • Build strong relationships with community groups, partners, and stakeholders.

Hours are approximately 30 hours per week across Mon- Friday with a rostered Saturday and availability to run library events or activities outside of normal hours is a must.

You’ll be part of a friendly, committed library team and play an important role in bringing people together through lifelong learning and connection.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You: 

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, outgoing, creative, and community‑focused.
  • Confident speaking to groups and delivering activities for a wide age range.
  • Experienced in customer service or community-facing roles.
  • Skilled with online tools and technology.
  • Able to plan, organise, and lead projects from idea to delivery.
  • A strong communicator — both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Innovative and able to think outside the box.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A qualification in a related area.
  • Experience delivering events, programmes, or activities.
  • Experience applying for grants (an advantage).
  • A current full driver licence.
