Central Otago District Libraries are looking for a friendly, tech‑confident Library Assistant to join our Alexandra team. If you enjoy helping people, love learning, and want a role with real variety, this could be the perfect fit.

Library Assistant job description
You’ll be part of a welcoming, supportive team helping deliver a modern, customer‑focused library service.
In this role you will:
- Provide warm, helpful customer service
- Help customers with digital devices, WiFi, public computers and printing/scanning
- Support programmes and events (e.g. story times, school visits, digital literacy sessions)
- Being our regular Saturday library assistant
- Hours are approximately 20 hours per week across Tuesday-Friday 10am to 2:00pm and Saturday 9:30am to 1:30pm
- Extra hours available through casual work
About you:
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and community‑minded
- Confident with technology and enjoys supporting others
- Organised, accurate and comfortable following procedures
- Able to use initiative and work both independently and in a team
- Enthusiastic about books, learning and helping people of all ages
- Library or customer service experience is an advantage, but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn matter most.
