Reporting to the Planning Team Leader, this role plays an important part in the planning process by researching, collating and interpreting historic and current property information against the District Plan. You’ll work closely with Planning and Building teams to ensure accurate, complete information is provided within statutory timeframes, helping support informed development and decision-making across the district. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven planning environment, has a strong eye for detail, and takes pride in producing high-quality, accurate work.
About you:
- A diploma-level qualification or higher in Geography, Planning, or a related discipline
- Experience in local government or a planning-related environment (advantageous but not essential)
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships with applicants, agents, and internal stakeholders
- A high level of proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
- Sound analytical, practical and report-writing skills
- The ability (or willingness to learn) to interpret property files, planning information and District Plan classifications
- Proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- A strong sense of urgency and accountability to meet legislative and statutory deadlines
