Reporting to the Team Leader Building Control, the Senior Building Control Officer provides technical expertise and leadership across building consent processing, building inspections, and Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) assessments.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

Senior Building Control Officer Job Description 

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across consent processing, inspections, and CCC functions.
  • Assess complex building consent applications and support consistent regulatory decision-making.
  • Undertake building inspections and ensure compliance with approved consent documentation.
  • Assess Code Compliance Certificate applications and ensure documentation supports regulatory decisions.
  • Support the Council’s Building Consent Authority accreditation and Quality Assurance System.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you: 

  • Strong knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and the New Zealand Building Code.
  • Experience in building consent processing, inspections, and CCC functions.
  • Understanding of acceptable solutions, verification methods, and alternative solutions.
  • Ability to mentor and support Building Control Officers.
  • A qualification meeting Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006.
