Job Description
The Central Otago District Council is looking for a motivated Water Services Development Engineer to join our team in Alexandra. In this pivotal role, you will support developers through Three Waters infrastructure planning and approval processes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Development Planning: providing advice regarding three waters servicing for fast-track applications, plan changes, District Plan reviews and spatial plans.
Early Engagement: Participating in early engagement meetings with developers and other professionals regarding water services engineering aspects of subdivision work.
Design Approval: Reviewing engineering design information and construction drawings to ensure assets to be vested in Council comply with relevant standards.
Construction Supervision: Attending sites during construction to ensure construction of three waters infrastructure is undertaken in accordance with the required standards.
Compliance & Data: Ensuring completed developments are compliant with resource consent conditions and that quality assurance and asset information is complete.
We are looking for a collaborative professional who balances technical expertise with a strong customer service focus. To be successful, you should have:
A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Experience in three water reticulation project management, construction, or design.
Sound knowledge of engineering design/construction standards and documentation.
High-level written and verbal communication skills to explain engineering and planning issues to the public, management, and developers.
The ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
A current, valid NZ driver’s license.
