Central Otago District Council’s Digital Services department supports the information, technology, and systems our staff rely on to deliver services to the community. We focus on providing reliable, secure, and practical digital services that enable staff to work effectively across the organisation.

You’ll be part of a team that values practical problem solving, reliable service delivery, and continuous improvement.

This role provides frontline ICT support to Council staff across the district. You will resolve service desk requests, support end‑user devices and applications, maintain documentation, and contribute to a secure and reliable digital environment.

Job Description

ICT Support Job Description 

You will work within the Digital Services department, reporting to the Team Leader – Digital Workplace and Infrastructure, and collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders across Council.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide first-level ICT support to end users across the organisation
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, device, and access issues
  • Support the setup, maintenance, and replacement of end-user devices
  • Manage service desk tickets, including logging, triaging, updating, resolving, and escalating requests in line with agreed service levels
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation and knowledge articles
  • Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to meet service needs
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster to help support critical Council systems when required

Desired Skills and Experience

About you: 

We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and building strong foundations in ICT service delivery.

  • A diploma or degree in information technology, or equivalent relevant experience
  • At least two years’ experience in an ICT support or service desk environment
  • Sound knowledge of desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11, iOS, and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Experience using an ICT service management or ticketing system to log, track, prioritise, and update requests
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Good time management and the ability to manage competing priorities
