We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Retail Co-ordinators to establish and lead the retail operation at Te Puna Mahara - Cromwell Memorial Events Centre. This role plays a key part in delivering a high‑quality visitor experience while developing retail as a strong and sustainable income stream for the venue. Working closely with the wider venue team, the Retail Co-ordinators will combine on‑floor customer service with back‑of‑house operational leadership in a dynamic, community‑focused environment.

Retail Coordinator Job Description
As Retail Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the venue’s retail space. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading daily retail operations, balancing customer-facing service with administration and reporting
- Actively working on the retail floor, delivering welcoming, knowledgeable customer service
- Managing cash handling, EFTPOS and POS transactions, daily reconciliations, and banking
- Establishing and maintaining retail systems for ordering, stock control, pricing, and POS accuracy
- Curating a Central Otago focused product range aligned with exhibitions, events, and seasonal demand
- Monitoring retail performance and preparing sales, stock, and financial reports
- Working collaboratively with venue staff and museum volunteers in the shared retail space
- Contributing to a safe, professional, and positive team environment
You will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Venue Director and wider venue team.
About you:
- Proven experience in retail co-ordination or senior retail supervision
- Demonstrated experience with cash handling, daily reconciliation, and POS systems
- Strong stock control, ordering, and merchandising capability
- Confidence working directly with customers in a frontline, public‑facing role
- Ability to set up or improve systems and processes in a new or changing environment
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Clear, respectful communicator who works well in small teams
- Experience working alongside volunteers is desirable
- Flexible and adaptable, with availability to work weekends and event‑driven peak periods
