We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Library Learning Coordinator to join our Cromwell Library team.

This role is all about connecting people with learning, literacy, culture and community through engaging library programmes and activities. From Storytime sessions for preschoolers to events for adults and seniors, you will help create meaningful experiences that encourage lifelong learning and strengthen community connections.

Working alongside library colleagues, community partners and Council teams, you will play a key role in ensuring our libraries remain vibrant, welcoming spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Job Description

Key responsibilities: 

  • Design, coordinate and deliver a diverse range of library programmes and activities for babies, children, young people, adults and seniors.
  • Assess community needs and develop programmes that support literacy, education, culture and social connection.
  • Coordinate visiting authors, artists, schools and community organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Libraries Events Team to deliver district-wide programmes and reading challenges.
  • Support smaller libraries across the district with programme planning and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community groups, stakeholders and partner organisations.
  • Coordinate programme promotion and marketing resources alongside Council's Communications team.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification or a qualification in a related field such as education, community development or similar. 
  • Experience delivering programmes, events, learning activities or community engagement initiatives.
  • Strong customer service experience and a passion for serving diverse communities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Confidence presenting to groups of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
  • Confidence using technology and online platforms.
  • Creativity, initiative, and the ability to turn ideas into successful programmes.
  • A current full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
