Key Responsibilities: 

Swim Teacher Job Description 

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Swim Teacher to join our swim school team. This role is integral to delivering high-quality swimming lessons and upholding our commitment to water safety and aquatic education. Working closely with the Swim School Manager, you will play a key part in helping swimmers of all ages and abilities grow in confidence and skill in the water. Full training and support will be provided to help you succeed in this role.

You will:

  • Deliver highquality, safe and engaging learntoswim lessons for all ages, from infants through to adults
  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with Swim School programmes, supporting swimmers to progress and achieve their learning goals
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents and caregivers through clear communication and excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and student progress updates in a timely and organised way
  • Work with the Swim School team to deliver the Water Skills for Life programme to local schools
  • Work collaboratively with the Swim School Manager and aquatics team while maintaining current qualifications and bestpractice teaching standards and general admin

Desired Skills and Experience

You will need:

  • Experience working with children, along with a genuine passion for helping others learn and grow
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with swimmers, parents and caregivers
  • A willingness to learn, take on feedback, and build confidence managing classes and adapting lessons to suit varying skill levels and learning needs
  • A positive, team‑focused attitude, along with good organisation skills and basic computer literacy
  • A current New Zealand Swim Teaching Qualification (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards one, with a commitment to maintaining professional currency
