As Swim School Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation, quality, and growth of our swim school programmes, working closely with instructors, aquatic teams, and administration staff to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality lessons across all sites. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior swim teacher or co-ordinator ready to step into management. 

This is a management role that still keeps you connected to the pool deck.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Leading, mentoring, training and supporting swim school instructors
  • Ensuring high-quality lesson delivery and consistent teaching standards
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and training of instructors
  • Swim school administration support including timetables, enrolments, and communication
  • Working closely with customer service and aquatic operations teams
  • Quality assurance, programme improvement, and problem solving
  • Being available to cover lessons in the water when required
  • Working across all Central Otago District Council pools, adapting to different sites and teams

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • You are someone who brings energy, structure, and calm leadership to busy environments.
  • Proven experience as a swim school teacher
  • AUSTSWIM qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in swim school administration or programme coordination
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, or readiness to step into a management role
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence working both on deck and in the water
  • Flexibility to work across multiple pool locations
  • A positive, solutions-focused approach
